2014 Birthday Dinner
On May 20th the we held our birthday dinner which was a great success. Janet Grant deserves special thanks for all the work she puts in not just arranging this years dinner but for all the past ones she has organized as well.
This is our final get together before we break for the Summer and also where awards are handed out. Pins are awarded judged on the accumulated results from the Monthly Challenges and this year we also had an award for Outstanding Service to the ASD (given to Kathy O'Connell). Each year the Pansy Taylor Award to is given out at the dinner and is for the person who has done the most for the ASD over the previous 12 months. This year it was awarded to John Angus for his work with our website and for working with Sue Majewski to arrange for the ASD to exhibit work in Oakwood Hospital as part of the Arts For The Spirit exhibit.
It was very sad that Maureen Wilson announced that she was stepping down from the position of Monthly Assignments Organizer as she has done an excellent job with this. Maureen is no longer able to commit her time to this as her son is very ill and will be in hospital for a lengthy stay. We all wish him a speedy and full recovery and our thoughts and prayers are with all the family during this time. Theresa Deeter offered to take over the position and we are grateful to her. Theresa also is assisting me with maintaining the website and I look forward to working with her on this.
We do not meet again until September so everyone have a great Summer and do not forget to keep creating great art and get the assignment (Railroads) ready for the next meeting.
